Allergan Accelerates Transformation to Branded Growth Pharma Leader by Divesting Global Generics Business to Teva for $40.5 Billion

Allergan plc (NYSE: AGN) on July 27 announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement under which Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. will acquire Allergan’s global generic pharmaceuticals business for $40.5 billion. Allergan will receive $33.75 billion in cash and $6.75 billion in Teva stock. In addition, Allergan retains 50% of Teva’s future economics from generic lenalidomide (Revlimid). The transaction has been unanimously approved by the boards of directors of Allergan and Teva and is strongly supported by the management teams of both companies. Angelina Jolie Pitt to Direct First They Killed My Father, an Unflinching Portrayal of War Through the Eyes of a Child, as a Netflix Original Film

Angelina Jolie Pitt will direct an adaptation of First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers, a harrowing and poignant memoir from Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung about surviving the deadly Khmer Rouge regime. Jolie Pitt will direct and produce the Netflix Original Film from a script she co-adapted with Ung. Acclaimed Cambodian director and producer Rithy Panh, director of the Oscar-nominated Best Foreign Language film The Missing Picture, will also be a producer.  The film will be made available to members of the world’s leading Internet TV network in late 2016 and will be submitted to major international festivals.
