Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Visit Indian Wildlife Rescue Center

On April 14, the International Fund for Animal Welfare and the Wildlife Trust of India welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC), where they witnessed first-hand orphaned Asian elephants and rhinos and other injured wildlife and met the dedicated staff that rescue and care for these animals. “We are delighted that their Royal Highnesses made time in their busy tour schedule to visit the IFAW- WTI center and meet staff and the animals under care,” said Azzedine Downes, IFAW president and CEO. “With elephants and rhinos in particular facing an uncertain future due to habitat loss, human conflict, and poaching, IFAW is pleased that the Duke and Duchess are able to raise public awareness of these threats to an international audience.” See the full release to learn more about the royal couple’s visit.

CWA and IBEW Leaders Call Strike Against Verizon and Its Customers

Despite Verizon’s good faith efforts to get to new labor contracts, CWA and IBEW leaders, unwilling to make an agreement or even seek the assistance of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS), have called a strike as of 6 a.m. April 13.  Verizon has activated its business continuity plans as customer service remains the company’s top priority. For the past 10 months, Verizon has tried to reach agreements for the company’s 36,000 wireline associates in the East.  While the company has on the table proposed wage increases, continued retirement benefits (including a generous 401(k) match) and excellent healthcare benefits, union leaders decided to call a strike rather than sit down and work on the issues that need to be resolved. See the full release to learn more about the strike.

New Book by Onion’s Scott Dikkers Prepares America for an Impending Trumpocalypse

This new book exposes Trump’s secret plans to find (and destroy) Bigfoot; build a wall in the Earth’s orbit to prevent a space alien invasion; deploy the Ark of the Covenant as a weapon of mass destruction – and a whole lot more … Trump’s America: The Complete Loser’s Guide (Micro-Publishing Media/Blaffo Books, $19.95), by The Onion’s founding editor Scott Dikkers, will be published on April 15. Dikkers wrote the book as a public service to help people thrive over the next eight years (perhaps many more), and avoid having to attend (and pay for) a Trump University Reeducation Camp. Each copy is worth many billions due to the incredible revelations, advice, and analysis. The book guarantees to turn losers into winners. See the full release to learn more about the book.
