baseball blogs we love

Welcome to Blog Profiles! Each week, PR Newswire selects an industry or subject and a handful of sites that do a good job with promoting and contributing to the conversation. Unless you were living under a rock last week, you probably know the Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time in forever.

To this victory, I bring to you great baseball blogs.

The Baltimore Sun’s The Schmuck Stops Here features musings on local and national sports.

It’s written by Peter Schmuck.

Schmuck’s coverage of the World Series win was pretty great. I especially liked Cubs offense wakes up and saves Joe Maddon from a storm of second-guessing.

Other notable posts include Amid latest comeback, veteran jockey Steve Hamilton set for busy Maryland Million Day, Cubs sitting pretty, but first World Series trip since 1945 won’t come easy, and Muslim Olympic medalist Ibtihaj Muhammad discusses race in sport at Morgan State event.

Big League Stew by Yahoo! Sports is an MLB blog edited by Kevin Kaduk.

Yahoo! Sports already covers a ton of ground.

Big League Stew, specifically, is within the confines of the MLB section, which includes fantasy baseball, scores/schedules, standings, stats, teams, players, video, and tickets.

Some posts I enjoyed include World Series Game 7 scores 40 million viewers, most in 25 years, Cubs fan drives 650 miles to listen to Game 7 at his father’s grave, and Wrigley Field went insane after the Cubs won the World Series.

Baseball Musings is the blog of a longtime baseball fan.

Baseball became part of my life in 1969, a perfect time to become a baseball fan,” wrote David Pinto. “It was the first year the leagues split into divisions, so my baseball life encompasses that entire era. And of course, it was the year of miracle Mets.”

Pinto hosted Baseball Tonight Online for ESPN in 2001. When that wasn’t renewed, he said, he joined the blogging revolution and started Baseball Musings.

“I now blog full time and love every minute of it,” he said.

I liked several posts on Pinto’s blog. They include There’s a Reason for Rest, Waiting to Wake Up, and Bottom of the Tenth.

College Baseball Daily was started by a lifelong supporter of college athletics.

Founder and editor Brian Foley launched College Baseball Daily during the 2005 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Two years later, the site was moved over to its own domain “due to the increase in traffic on the previous site,” the blog says.

The site features season coverage and news about schedules and conferences.

Interesting posts include CBD Photo Gallery: 2017 Virginia Tech Fall Series, The Evolution of the Baseball Glove, and Kentucky Set to Get New Baseball Stadium.
