Sinclair Broadcast Group to Acquire Tribune Media Company for Approximately $3.9 Billion

Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. and Tribune Media Co. announced on May 8 that they have entered a definitive agreement under which Sinclair will acquire 100% of the issued and outstanding shares of Tribune for $43.50 per share, for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $3.9 billion, plus the assumption of approximately $2.7 billion in net debt.

National Football League and Twitter Partner on Live Programming

The National Football League and Twitter announced on May 11 a new multiyear deal to deliver uniquely packaged official NFL video and other types of content to fans around the world daily, year-round. The NFL and Twitter, who have collaborated since 2013 through the Amplify program, will offer brands the opportunity to advertise on official NFL content created specifically for the Twitter platform. The deal breaks new ground in creative live programming and video-on-demand content.

PepsiCo said on May 11 that PepsiCo Greater China Region (GCR) signed a strategic agreement with Alibaba Group, the world’s largest online and mobile commerce company. The collaboration enables PepsiCo to further enhance consumer experiences by leveraging Alibaba’s data to introduce innovative marketing initiatives, customized products and integrated omnichannel solutions. The agreement was signed at the PepsiCo Asia R&D Center in Shanghai, by Mike Spanos, PepsiCo GCR President & CEO, and Jet Jing, Vice President of Alibaba Group.

Toyota Land Speed Cruiser Claims ‘World’s Fastest SUV’ Title

Land Cruiser, Toyota’s go-anywhere four-wheel-drive sport-utility vehicle, has earned myriad accolades and records over the 60-plus years it’s been in production. And now, among them: the title of “World’s Fastest SUV” thanks to a record speed of over 230 m.p.h., attained by the custom 2,000-horsepower Land Speed Cruiser. With former Toyota NASCAR driver Carl Edwards at the helm, the Land Speed Cruiser shattered the previous “World’s Fastest SUV” record by more than 19 mph, reaching a GPS-verified and video-documented 230.02 m.p.h. before running out of usable pavement. With enough track ahead, the Land Speed Cruiser could be expected to go even faster.

Crayola to Launch New Crayon Color Inspired by the Discovery of the YInMn Pigment, as the World’s Newest Shade of Blue
