SHE Media announced nine free digital events that will be open to women creators and entrepreneurs. The event will include virtual programming with interactive sessions, panel discussions, inspiring talks, and advice from leading experts to help women build and adapt their businesses.

Anytime: Clear, Strong Writing for Broadcast Journalism

Hosted by Al Tompkins of The Poynter Institute, “In this one-hour video tutorial, early-career journalists will learn how to make their writing crisper, clearer and more enticing to broadcast audiences.” Check out the short, free video to learn the do’s and don’ts of broadcast journalism writing.

Anytime: Udemy Courses

Udemy is an online learning platform with more than 100,000 courses from more than 50,000 instructors covering a wide variety of topics. Whether you’re looking for classes to boost your skills in photography, travel writing, or podcasting, you can find one here. And if you’re feeling a bit burned out and are just looking for anything that’s NOT related to work, there’s also a great selection of lifestyle and personal development courses.

Anytime: Monitoring TikTok

Hosted by FirstDraft’s Laura Garcia and Carlotta Dotto, this hour-long video teaches journalists how to use OSINT (open-source intelligence) skills to “find content on TikTok, where it is being shared elsewhere, and verify content.” Learn the basics of how TikTok works, the types of content and styles you can find on it, and investigation tools and techniques for monitoring the app.

July: News Summer School

Provided by The Information, the News Summer School will consist of eight, hour-long evening “classes” on Zoom throughout the month of July. The courses are free and available to anyone looking to build a career in the news industry. Learn about White House and election coverage from Politico Editor Carrie Budoff Brown. Nicholas Carlson, global editor-in-chief of Insider, will lead a course about getting a journalism job and finding your beat. The impressive lineup of teachers also includes Ben Smith, NYT media columnist; The Information founder Jessica Levin; and Lydia Polgreen, head of content at Gimlet.

July 14-15: MozCon

MozCon is a two-day “single-track journey into the deepest realms of search marketing.” Experts in SEO, mobile, local search, and more will gather to attend and lead sessions during this event. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the conference has been adjusted and is now completely virtual. The new agenda includes courses like “Designing a Content Engine: Going from Ideation to Creation to Distribution” and “How to Promote Your Content Like a Boss.”

July 16-18: Heart of Haven

“The Haven Conference is a place to celebrate the DIY spirit, learn new skills and build an online business!” DIY and home decor bloggers will have access to virtual booths, challenges, workshops, and socials, as well as plenty of time for networking and building connections with their peers. The 2020 conference will be all-digital. Courses include “Blogging Side Hustles,” “Podcasting with Power,” and “Design in the time of Corona: Embracing EDesign.”

July 30-31: INSPO Creative’s Conference

The INSPO Creative’s Conference will bring together women bloggers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and vendors for two days of sessions and panels. The intimate event will cover topics like “How to make your blog your full time job” and “IG etiquette, and how to put your best self forward using social media.” Attend this “women inspiring and supporting women” conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Jaden Venue Center. Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, in-person tickets are limited and virtual tickets are available as of May 1.
