If you’re looking for a sports news source not supported by bombarding readers with ads, look no further than The Athletic, a subscription-based site full of well-written, in-depth stories across most major sports. The $9.99/month subscription fee is clearly worth it, as the site recently reported hitting 1 million subscribers despite a major sports hiatus during the pandemic.

Sort content by league (NHL, NBA, MLB, NBA, etc.) or by city if you’re only on the hunt for news about your local teams. The site also offers content on fantasy leagues for baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and Premier League.

If you’re a diehard fan of a particular team, just pull up that team’s subreddit and voila, you’ve got a news aggregator for your team.

Most professional team subreddits have tens of thousands of followers and contributors, and the major sports forums such as r/nfl and r/soccer have reached the millions, providing discussion, links to articles, and even original content, from long-form essays on a team’s playoff chances to lighthearted memes.

CBS Sports

Of the major sports networks, the CBS Sports website is one of the best you’ll find.

With live scoring, breaking news, and solid reporting, without as much of a pop culture approach as other sites, CBS is a great overall hub for all your sports news.
