Blog Profiles: Higher Education Blogs

Welcome to Blog Profiles! Each week, we select a topic and handful of blogs that do a great job contributing to the conversation. Do you have a blog that deserves recognition? Tweet our writers at @BeyondBylines.

Higher Education Blogs We Love

My daughter is a senior in high school, so of course she is thinking about which university to go to next year.

I am thinking about that, too. But, as a mom, one of the big topics on my mind is cost.

You may have noticed that tuition price tags are rising faster than inflation.

I found some blogs that can help sort through the process.

1. Higher Education Today

The American Council on Education’s (ACE) Higher Education Today blog focuses on what is most relevant in higher education right now.

I enjoyed reading Helping College Students Make Informed Student Loan Decisions, How Should We Think About College Affordability?, and College Board Releases 2017 Trends in Higher Education Reports.

Follow @ACEducation on Twitter.

2.  VOA StudentU

In 1942, The Voice of America began broadcasting to combat Nazi propaganda with unbiased information.

VOA StudentU takes a look at college life, offers up advice, and focuses on foreign student topics, as well.

I recommend reading Look Inward Before Letting Others Pick Your Path, Let Go, Embrace Options, Fall in Love, and Students Will Make $500K More In a Lifetime Doing This.

3. The Chronicle of Higher Education

Based in Washington, D.C., The Chronicle of Higher Education is a premier source of news and jobs for those with higher education-related careers.

Passage of Senate Tax-Reform Bill Leaves Colleges Scrambling, How to Escape Grading Jail, and Don’t Insult Your Class by Banning Laptops are all great reads.

Follow @chronicle on Twitter.

4. HuffPost College

The HuffPost College section is a great go-to on current hot topics in academia.
