Sept. 12-13: Digital Travel Summit
Digital transformation in the travel industry has accelerated in recent years, and the 10th annual Digital Travel Summit will help the experts navigate the changes. Top minds from hotels, OTAs, airlines, transportation companies, and everything in between will come together to share practical insight on how to enhance personalization and improve their online strategies. Sessions will focus on the modern traveler, AI in the cruise industry, travel on social media, and more. The event will take place at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa in South Carolina.
Sept. 15: Power of Diverse Voices: Writing Workshop for Journalists of Color (application deadline)
Apply now for this four-day intensive from Poynter that will take place in St. Petersburg, Florida, in November. “With the support of expert instructors and fellow journalists of color, develop the confidence and skills to share your unique perspective in persuasive writing,” the site says.
Sept. 15-17: Bloggy Conference
Bloggy Con, “an annual event for bloggers, content creators, and online influencers to learn, network, and grow their online presence,” returns for its 12th annual event. It will take place in Sandusky, Ohio. The full agenda is TBD.
Sept. 18-22: How to Write Better, Easier and Faster
This writing process master class from Wylie Communications will help attendees develop an efficient, effective, and fun process. Whether you run into roadblocks with time management, idea brainstorming, or writer’s block, this course can help.
Sept. 19-22: Global Investigative Journalism Conference
Gothenburg, Sweden, will host GIJC23, where more than 2,000 journalists from around the world are expected to be in attendance. The 13th iteration of the event will feature “training on the latest tools and techniques, cutting-edge workshops, and extensive networking and brainstorming sessions.” Among the 200+ workshops, panels, and other sessions, attendees will learn about AI in investigative journalism, local news megatrends, basic coding principles, investigating war crimes, and much more.
Sept. 22-23: Pinners Conference & Expo (Fort Worth, TX)
Calling all DIY and craft bloggers! The Pinners Conference will head to Fort Worth, Texas, for its September event. Choose from more than 100 classes and workshops covering crafts like holiday decor, weaving and embroidery, soap making, cookie decorating, and much more.
Sept. 26: Why headline testing matters & how AI can help
Sept. 26-28: Freedom Business Summit
If you’re a freelancer, blogger, or journalist working remotely, check out the Freedom Business Summit. The four available tracks will cover topics like relocation, managing remote teams, finance management, and more.
Sept. 28-29: ONA23: Onward
The online component of the Online News Association’s annual conference will focus on “the biggest ideas in digital journalism.”
Sept. 28-30: SPJ23
The annual conference from the Society for Professional Journalists will offer more than 50 breakout sessions and workshops in total, including its largest-ever slate of deep-dive and multi-part sessions. “Enriching Local News Stories with a Dose of Science,” “How Google Tools Can Enhance Your Reporting,” and “The New and Old Newsroom Skills Students Need in the Era of Generative AI” are just a few of the many unique topics on the schedule. The event will take place in Las Vegas.
