February Calendar: 10+ Events for Journalists and Bloggers

February might be a short month, but it’s still packed with plenty of unique events for journalists and bloggers. Whether you’re looking to learn about the creator economy, AI video creation, email newsletters or how to report on a polarized America, February has something for you — and then some.

Feb. 3-5: Affiliate Summit West
Mass publishers and bloggers alike will head to Las Vegas to attend Affiliate Summit West. Build new partnerships and learn new ways to boost traffic to your site. Content & Commerce, Lead Gen, Brand Strategy and Ecommerce are among the seven available content tracks.
Feb. 4-5: Creator Economy Live
Creator Economy Live will welcome hundreds of brands to “hear unparalleled insights from industry giants so that they can take their influencer marketing to the next level and deliver campaign ROI.” The main topics include measurement and ROI, creator relations, social platforms, content strategy, and future tools and trends. It will take place at Caesars Forum in Las Vegas.
Feb. 5: Mini-Lab: AI Tools for Video Creation
Sign up now for this 45-minute hands-on session from the Online News Association (ONA). You’ll use prompts in Sora to build videos with some journalistic value, then learn how to post them properly online (YouTube) and disclose the AI use to readers when posting.
Feb. 5-26: Lead with Influence
Apply now for this weekly virtual training from Poynter (deadline is Jan. 10, 2025). During this career/leadership development 101 course, attendees will learn to effectively use their current influence and set themselves up for success in the next steps of their careers. “If you have the title of project manager or product manager, or are in the position of being responsible for outcomes without formally supervising anyone (no direct reports), this program is for you,” the site says. If you don’t make the February sessions, the course will also be offered in September.
Feb. 6: Establish (or Improve) Your Email Newsletter
During this 90-minute webinar from Writer’s Digest University, attendees will “cover best practices of email newsletters for authors, how to avoid the mistakes most prevalent in the writing community, plus the pros and cons of using the popular newsletter platform Substack.”
Feb. 10-12: Design Influencers Leadership Conference
Design influencers and interior design bloggers and writers will head to beautiful Napa, California, for this year’s conference. Topics like social media, affiliate marketing, brand growth and legal tips for influencers are included in the schedule. Other bonuses include one-on-one private brand/design influencer meetings and a genius bar for digital marketing and social media guidance.
Feb. 20-27: Beat Academy: Polarized America (2025)
This course from Poynter will include two 75-minute webinars. Attendees will come away with “real-world strategies for tackling polarization and covering controversial issues with nuance and depth.”
- Webinar 1 (Feb. 20): This session will cover data on polarization in the U.S. and the coverage strategies that can get beyond it.
- Webinar 2 (Feb. 27): The second webinar will focus on Christian Nationalism, its issues and sources of support.
Feb. 20: Investigating Fossil Fuels
This webinar from the Global Investigative Journalism Network will provide journalists with key strategies for probing the fossil fuel industry. The panel of experts will “share their experiences and tools for exposing the industry’s role in the climate crisis, investigating private and state-owned enterprises, analyzing regulatory policies, and evaluating the credibility of proposed climate solutions.”
Feb. 24-26: ASJA 2025 Conference
The annual conference for the American Society of Journalists and Authors will take place at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City — with a fitting theme of “Always in Fashion.” The event will include “how-to sessions, panels with outlets that assign work to freelancers, intensive hands-on workshops and masterminds for writers at all stages of their careers, compelling keynotes, networking lunches, field trips, Client Connections and more.”
Feb. 27-March 1: WORKBENCHcon
WORKBENCHcon is a “growing network of diyers, makers, influencers & bloggers discovering new techniques, products and skills all while learning how to take their businesses to the next level.” Sessions will cover topics like techniques for using tools and new equipment, skills for video production, and business practices for the content creator, with more to come. It will be held in Atlanta.

March 6-8: ACP Spring National College Media Conference
The Associated College Press (ACP) is heading to Long Beach, California, for its Spring National College Media Conference. The event provides collegiate journalists and advisers with helpful sessions, critiques, advice and feedback. “With dozens of learning sessions from experienced journalism professionals and advisers, the conference gives you that much-needed boost to conclude the academic year and prepare you for what’s ahead.”
March 6-9: NICAR 2025
The 2025 data journalism conference will take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The event will offer “everything from the basics on using spreadsheets, databases and online mapping to data visualization and the latest technological advances.” The schedule features nearly 200 sessions, including “Beginner track: New to data journalism,” “Coaching ChatGPT to help with coding and data tasks,” “Python for data analysis,” “Updating data practices for inclusion” and much more.
March 7-8: Pinners Conference & Expo (Utah)
DIYers and craft bloggers will head to St. George, Utah, for this event featuring over 100 hands-on Pinterest-based classes. If you write about DIY, crafts, cooking, self-improvement, photography, party planning, scrapbooking, holiday, beauty or fashion, add the Pinners event to your calendar!
March 7-15: SXSW
SXSW will welcome a diverse group of innovators, storytellers, humanitarians, and global thought leaders back to Austin, Texas, for 9 days of collaboration. AI, climate change, civic engagement, the creator economy and startups are just a few of the 23 curated tracks available to attendees.
March 7-9: IDEA Health and Fitness Summit
This event is a great option for fitness bloggers and vloggers. They can connect with other personal trainers, entrepreneurs and business owners and learn new strategies to create change and get noticed in a crowded marketplace. Topics cover training techniques, nutrition, training science and professional development. The 2025 event will take place in Denver, Colorado.
