June 3: What I’ve Learned About 60,000+ Headlines

Can you spot an AI-generated headline from a real one? During this virtual event from ONA, hear what YESEO app founder Ryan Restivo has learned through building and launching his Slack app. Restivo’s app helps journalists with SEO best practices. He’ll cover what he saw in over two years’ worth of data, what words indicate the likelihood of headlines that come from LLMs and tips for how to spot them.

June 3: Behind the Data — Tools and Techniques from the 2025 Sigma Award Winners

This lightning round from the Global Investigative Journalism Network will feature the 10 winners of the 2025 Sigma Awards, which celebrate the best data journalism from around the world. Winning teams will each have five minutes to share key insights from their reporting process, from their favorite tools to innovative research and reporting methods.

June 4: Build a smarter email system with Letterhead

June 5: Tell Your Story to Beat the Bots: Thriving and Surviving in the Age of AI

Authors are increasingly worried that AI-generated content will soon render them unnecessary. During this Writer’s Digest University webinar, you’ll learn how to out-write AI and “harness your innate creativity using science-based creativity-boosting techniques to come up with fresh ideas.”

June 10: 2025 Media Impact Forum

The media landscape is shifting, in part due to influencers’ transition to newsmakers, blurring the lines between journalism, commentary and influencer. The 2025 Media Impact Forum will “address these dynamics and the implications of how audiences consume content on journalism, truth, and democracy.” Funders will hear about the latest research, storytellers and projects that are redefining the way audiences engage.

June 10-11: The Publisher Summits

Over two days, the Publisher Podcast, Newsletter, App and Print Summits will delve into their respective niches, from the challenges of reaching new audiences to revenue opportunities and examples of editorial excellence. The evenings will be dedicated to the Podcast and Newsletter award ceremonies. Editorial leaders, decision-makers, journalists, podcast producers and others working in these fields are encouraged to attend. The Summits will take place in London.

June 10-12: Breaking Into Books: A Non-Fiction Writing Workshop for Journalists

Ready to turn your reporting into a nonfiction book concept? This intensive workshop will cover narrative nonfiction techniques, publishing world insights, tips for working with an agent and how to get started on your book proposal. The in-person session from Poynter will take place in St. Petersburg, Florida. It will be led by acclaimed author and Columbia Journalism School professor Samuel G. Freedman.

June 11-13: RTDNA25

New Orleans will host the annual event from the Radio Television Digital News Association. Newsroom leaders will gather to “foster collaboration, spark innovation and tackle challenges head-on.” The typical panels and lectures are replaced by hands-on, practical sessions to help leaders drive their newsroom’s journalism further.

June 11-14: Craft + Commerce

Boise, Idaho, will host the event where “top online creators gather to help grow their businesses.” Inspiring keynotes, intimate workshops and plenty of networking opportunities will round out the schedule. Topics like SEO, design, photography, newsletters and more have been featured in previous years; the full 2025 schedule is still being finalized.

June 12: How To Take AI From Buzzword to Newsroom Backbone

Hosted by the Online News Association (ONA), this free Zoom event will be led by Aftonbladet’s Deputy Publisher and Director of Editorial AI & Innovation Martin Schori. Learn how AI has (and hasn’t) worked in his newsroom, including “how his newsroom built an AI hub, trained Prompt Queens, and experimented with everything from editorial copilots to US election chatbots.”

June 13: 2025 Reimagining Philadelphia Journalism Summit

The fourth annual summit from The Lenfest Institute for Journalism will bring together newsroom leaders from across the Philadelphia news ecosystem to “surface real solutions for the future of news through social media, A.I. tools, and sustainability practices in newsrooms.” Hear from civic engagement leaders about how they’re working to maintain trust in their communities.

June 18: WTF is SEO: Google Top Stories Panel

News of the recent expansion of AI Mode in the U.S. could entirely upend the search ecosystem. During this session, in partnership with Trisolute News Dashboard, attendees will hear about what’s changing with Top Stories (the news box in search results) and how news organizations can adapt.

June 19-22: IRE 2025

The annual event for investigative reporters heads to New Orleans this year for its 50th anniversary. Topics will cover investigative reporting in climate, crime and sports, journalist safety, records requests, ethical uses for AI and much more. This year’s event will also feature a special New Orleans-style riverboat cruise, programming dedicated to the past, present and future of investigative journalism, and a keynote address by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Jim Steele.

June 20: Building Resilient News Organizations Through Adaptive Strategy and Rapid Experimentation

This interactive, virtual session from ONA will be co-led by Ashir Badami (Medill School of Journalism, former VP at venture-backed startups) and product strategy expert Robert Hoekman. Attendees will dive into the flexibility, continuous learning and responsiveness to change that are at the core of resilient newsrooms. They’ll also learn about a practical framework for rapid experimentation.

June 24: Public Health Journalism: Finding focus and shaping your narrative

This is the latest public health webinar from the National Press Club. This session will cover tips for organization, editing yourself and finding clarity as you work to shape large amounts of material into a months-long investigation or long-form narrative. The event is free and open to the public.

June 25-27: GlobalFact 12

The world’s largest summit for professional fact-checking will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event, hosted by the International Fact-Checking Network, brings together fact-checkers to “address industry-wide challenges, exchange best practices and build collaborative solutions to improve our shared information ecosystem.” Fact-checking trends, legislation, safety for fact-checking teams and investigating disinformation are just a few of the challenges that will be discussed.

July 14-Aug. 4: Building Blocks: Critical Skills for New Reporters

This journalism training program from Poynter teaches early-career journalists essential reporting techniques, effective storytelling methods, and newsroom navigation skills. Virtual sessions and individual mentorship will be provided by veteran journalists. Come away with strategies for crafting compelling story ideas, connecting your own background to your reporting, conducting effective interviews, navigating newsroom dynamics and more.

July 16-19: TBEX North America

Travel content creators will attend TBEX to boost their writing, photography and video skills; network with other creators, travel experts and tourist boards; and more. Dozens of workshops, sessions and forums will fill the schedule. TBEX North America will take place in Quebec City, Canada, a top travel destination and the only walled city north of Mexico.
