I’d like to live greener.

For those who know me, this is mildly ironic, considering I’m a green thumb and my house is entirely plant-ful.

But that’s not the green I’m talking about. I’d like to do better with sustainable living and being more eco-conscious.

So this week, I’m looking at some green living blogs that will help me get there.

1. RecycleNation

RecycleNation is a green-living focused site that makes “recycling, conserving, reusing and living wisely easy.”

It features a recycling location database. Clearing out the house and spring cleaning? No problem. Have some extra shopping bags that you’d like to recycle? Got it.

Posts that I found interesting: 7 Easy Ways to Keep Your Summer Green, 5 Ideas for a Greener School, Tips for Recycling in an Apartment Complex, and Recycling Single-Serve Coffee Pods.

2. Ecocult

Ecocult provides news about “sustainable fashion and travel for the conscious woman.”

In addition to fashion and travel, topics also cover NYC, beauty, food, apartment, wedding, and sustainable shopping.

This is a cool site.

Notable posts include 14 Sustainable and Ethical Fashion Myths That Need to Die, 6 Steps to a Sustainable, Ethical, and Affordable Closet, and All Your Questions About Eco-Friendly Cotton Answered.

3. Eartheasy

Eartheasy “provides solutions for sustainable living in the form of eco-friendly products, comprehensive guides, and informative articles.”

Some great recent articles include What Keeps Mosquitoes Away? Mosquito Controls That Actually Work, Are the Dangers of Asbestos Still Real?, Zero Waste: A Beginner’s Guide, and this awesome Composting guide.

4. Insteading

If you want to find a place that features news about homesteading and sustainability, meet Insteading.

“Insteading helps people on their journey to live a more positive life — positive for themselves, for their neighbors, and for the world around them,” the site says. “As the world awakens to the need to transition away from fossil fuels, people are making alternative choices with the clothes they wear, the products they buy, and the transportation choices they make.”

From How to Tell if a Watermelon is Ripe to 25 Small Greenhouses (For Nearly Any Space – 2X2 and Up), readers will find a lot of good information here.

Thinking about upcycling that broken dresser? No problem.
