Ad Council Research Institute Finds Healthcare Affordability, Crime, Climate Change, and Women’s Health as the Top Issues Americans Care Most About

The Ad Council Research Institute (ACRI), the research arm of the Ad Council, today (June 22) revealed the findings of their new quarterly issue pulse study in partnership with Morning Consult, examining the most important social, economic and political issues of our current day.

Derrick Feldmann, lead researcher and managing director of ACRI and Ad Council Edge, said, “Our study reflects the increasingly fragile nature of an American’s attention. With so many issues to care about and so much information pulling a consumer’s focus, this pulse check on what people care about and where they are taking action allows us and other purpose-driven marketers to better understand how to reach and empower the general public to make an impact in this ever-changing world.”

Housing Affordability Hits 15-Year Low as Prices, Mortgage Rates Rise

Ballooning mortgage costs, driven by skyrocketing prices and interest rates, have made mortgages less affordable than at any time since at least 2007. Demand for homes has pulled back in response, easing price growth, slowing sales and boosting inventory, according to the latest market report from Zillow. Mortgage rates have shot up in early June, averaging 5.78% as of Thursday (June 16). A new purchase of a typical U.S. home at that rate would mean monthly mortgage payments of $2,127, that’s 51% higher than a year ago and up 36% year to date.
