Years ago, I covered the business side of meetings and events.

The brief time I dabbled in this part of the hospitality industry showed me the work that goes into producing meetings and trade shows. It’s really impressive.

This week, I thought about some of the great event planners I met over the years. This post is dedicated to them.

Event Manager Blog is an online resource for event professionals worldwide.

EventMB was started by international speaker and author Julius Solaris in April 2007.

“EventMB has become the go-to online resource for trends, technology, innovation and education for the event industry,” the blog says.

I found a lot of interesting posts on EventMB. They include 10 Lessons from Comic-Con for Event Professionals, The Biggest Threat to the Event Industry, and 14 Things We Don’t Need Anymore at Events.

Smart Meetings magazine has an awesome site with news and information for the meetings industry and its professionals.

I’m a big fan of the content on here.

Smart Meetings covers meeting planning, people, events, destinations, venues, technology, and webinars, among other things.

I liked several posts, including A Deeper Shade of Green: 10 Hotels Enhancing Sustainability in Creative Ways, Healthy Ways to Wake Up Sleepy Attendees, and Planners Confess Their Biggest Mistakes (and Lessons Learned).

Event Blog by Cvent features event tips, ideas, and resources.

The blog covers a great many industry categories, including social media, site selection and budgeting, association tips, meeting and event intelligence, planning how-tos, and strategic meetings management.

There’s a lot on this site.

I liked Beyond the Ghost: The Secret to Event Snapchat Success, Do You Know the 8 Elements of a Perfect RFP?, Budgeting: How to Estimate Coffee Consumption, and 5 Questions to Ask During Membership Satisfaction Surveys.

BizBash covers event planning news, news, and resources.

According to the site, nearly “200,000 unique users look to BizBash for venue discovery, event style, technology, and tools for their next event” every month.

Some of these ideas were particularly clever: 10 Best Ideas of the Week: a Mini Tequila Truck Display, Pencil Centerpieces, a Budweiser Swing Ride.

Other cool posts include White House Partners with SXSW for New Festival and 6 Ways Event Planners Can Manage Payment Security Breaches.
